Strong, tough crack-resistant deposit suitable for fabrication of tanks and other military vehicles. It is also useful for welding high tensile steels, for joining 13% manganese steels and more generally as a multi-purpose wire for maintenance and for welding dissimilar joints.

Repair jobs where high strength and toughness combined with work-hardening capacity are required. Joining of austenitic manganese steels to themselves or to other steels. Buffer layer before hardfacing. Maintenance work on air hardenable and “hard-to-weld” steels. Armour plating. Joining of 14% manganese steels.

Welding of stainless steels of similar composition and ferritic stainless steels. Joining of stainless steels to mild and low-alloyed steels. Rebuilding and buffering before cladding or hardfacing.

Maintenance on “hard-to-weld” steels.

Dissimilar welding of stainless steels including types 304, 304L, 316, 316L, 318, 316Ti, 321, 410 and ferritic stainless steels types 1.4713, 1.4724,1.4742, 3Cr12, to mild and low alloyed CMn steels. Suitable for service temperatures up to 400°C.

Welding of stainless steels of similar composition and ferritic stainless steels. Joining of stainless steels to mild and low-alloyed steels. Rebuilding and buffering before cladding or hardfacing.

Maintenance on “hard-to-weld” steels. Superior resistance to dilution when compared to 309L deposits because of the higher alloy and ferrite content. Improved strength / ductility balance compared to 312. Suitable for service temperatures up to 400°C.

The high alloy content and ferrite ratio allow 312 alloys to benefit from extreme tolerance to hot cracking and dilution . Preheat can often be avoided or minimised. The weld deposit work-hardens and gives good wear and friction resistance. Suitable for welding stainless steels of similar composition, ferritic stainless steels, joining stainless steels to mild and low-alloyed steels, buffer layers before hard-surfacing, maintenance on “hard-to-weld” steels, welding high carbon hardenable steels of known and unknown composition. Suitable for most steels susceptible to cracking such as tool steels, manganese steels, spring steels and high-speed steels.
