Gives a 17% chromium ferritic stainless steel deposit. Used for corrosion- and wear-resistant surfacing applications. Good high temperature corrosion resistance. Resists oxidation up to 900°C, particularly in the presence of sulphur-containing combustion gases. Maybe used as a buffer layer before surfacing with 13% chromium materials.
